narrative

Once upon a time there was a forest in that forest there were fairy people.  They were tribes. One of the tribes were called Hunua. Their eyes were green.  The other tribe was called Waitakare. Their eyes were blue.  The fairies would only come at night so when the sun was out they would stay in their little houses.  One day they went out fishing and so did the prince. When the prince was ready he did not have a hook to fish and everybody laughed at him so he had to jump down in to the river.  He picked up fish, mussel and pipi.  Next the princess of the Hunua tribe she went fishing too.  Next the  prince looked up and saw the princess. He liked her and    said hello.  So the prince brought the  princess to the Waitakare tribe. Everyone said hello.  The next day the Hunua tribe knew someone took their princess so they knew the Waitakare tribe took theirprincess.  So they went to attack the Waitakare tribe.  Then the other tribe heard them coming so they fought.  Then Hunua tribe fought so did the Waitakare tribe so they went on and on and on. Suddenly a volcano and mountains grew and the ground rumbled and rumbled.  The god of the mountains and volcanos was so angry at them. 



reflection: I got this story from the pakuranga library.  it was tricky to remember the whole story.

Maths jumping a number line

W.A.L.T use a number line to work out addition.
I jumped from 41 to 50 to do that I jumped 9 because 41+9=50.  Than I jumped 30 to get to 80 than I added 7 that made 87.

Basic facts


I am learning my basic facts.


I know I will be successful when:

  • my results improve each month
  • I am able to instantly recall addition facts
  • I am able to instantly recall subtraction facts
  • I am able to instantly recall multiplication facts
  • I am able to instantly recall division facts

I need to work on my division and work much faster.

ANZAC Reading









We read lots of books and articles about war.  We listened to someone who was in the war.
We wanted to share the information and new information that we have learned from our readings and our findings with our peers.

I struggled with finding information on war because  I couldn't find interesting words for my poster.  I was most proud of my writing because I did heaps of information on war.  Next time I could improve on how I present it.

I was confused about Mud wiggle because I forgot about the story so much that I nearly forgot about what Mud Wiggle did to help Rose and Tim.  I was mostly proud of description of Mud Wiggle because I had to think a lot about what Mud Wiggle did.  I thought that I could memorise more of the story.

Authors response reading.




I am learning to identify and describe what the author wanted me to feel, think about or see.

Success Criteria.
I will know I have been successful when:
  • I can identify what I think the author’s purpose might be
  • I can identify the big idea or message/s in the story through character actions or events
  • I can describe the thoughts, feelings and actions in the story and link it to author purpose
  • I can find evidence in the text to support my thinking, feelings and observations
  • I can identify how the illustrations help to get the author’s message across

    This is my reading evidence I found it tricky because I had to think how I felt about the story. The easy part was to write what I thought was funny.
    Next time I need to look at the success criteria.
